Pipes Buzz!

Pipes is getting a crazy amount of coverage on the web (and our server load is going up with it). You can follow some of the buzz at these locations:

Or you can track them all using Leonard’s buzz aggregator pipe

  1. Why not output a pipe as a Widget? It is not very difficult, but very useful for end users. I think rss and json is not enough. Any way, you guys do a great job. Thank you very much.

  2. I met the same problem when I burned several feeds from Google Research, Microsoft Research, PARC, Sun Research and IBM Research. The problems are not only the format of date, but also different fields.

For example feed from Google Research have no “pubDate” field, only “created” and “modified” field. I have tried a way to fetch the Google feed into the system and out put it then as a normalized one. I see the XML of the normalized out put, it is ok. But when I try to use this normalized out put in another pipe, I was failed again.

    Could you help? Thanks.

  3. A lot of people are trying to use pubDate and running into the same problem. We are working on addressing that issue. We are also working on offering better normalization of various common RSS attributes (pubDate, modified, created).

We are also working on badges. In the meanwhile, you might be able to use some of the 3rd party badge renderes. We output RSS, so it should be possible to get something working in the meantime.

  4. Thank you very much for your reply!!
